Bruno Mars begins Aussie tour in Perth
He may be small in stature, but Bruno Mars concerts are larger than life.
The American singer/songwriter began his Australian tour in Perth on Friday night, impressing his mostly young fans with his dance moves, musical ability and vocal range.
Miguel warmed up the crowd with an energetic performance, although the music was too loud for his voice.
But it was Hawaiian-born Bruno Mars who everyone wanted to see and he immediately had people on their feet as he encouraged them to shake along to the music.
The Moonshine Jungle Tour is Mars’ first arena tour in Australia and follows his recently Super Bowl performance.
Supported by a dancing band, Mars opened with Moonshine and Natalie, and later performed hits including Treasure, Nothin’ On You, Marry You and Grenade.
The 28-year-old also Wowed when he led the crowd through a chant of “Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!” before performing a cover of Barrett Strong’s Motown hit, Money (That’s What I Want) and then leading into Billionaire.
He told the audience that When I Was Your Man was the hardest song for him to write and perform, so everyone was more than willing to help him sing the sad ballad.
The Grammy award-winner, who has sold eight million albums worldwide and 58 million singles, certainly knows how to get a crowd going.
The talented Mars can hold the high notes, lead choreographed dances and play instruments including guitars and drums.
He finished his main set with Just The Way You Are before returning for an encore that included a drum solo and Locked Out of Heaven as the gold confetti rained down and strobe lighting lit the arena.
Mars travelled to the other side of Earth to entertain his loyal fans and promised to make the long journey again.

Bruno Mars Cast In ‘Rio 2’
Bruno Mars has taken the music world by storm with his sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox, and now he’s set to take over the acting world. While we don’t know if Bruno Mars will capture the same success his peers have, like Justin Timberlake, we’re pretty sure Mars made the right decision by lending his voice to Rio 2.
For those who aren’t familiar, Rio is an animated film about a domesticated bird. Blu, the macaw, hails from a small-town in Minnesota and meets a fierce no funny business Jewel. Blu decides that he needs to take his fellow macaw on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro.
Bruno Mars isn’t the only pop act that’s cast in Rio 2. Singer Janelle Monae is also a part of Rio 2. The studio made sure that it made the best out of using two pop stars by including their music in the soundtrack as well.

Bruno Mars Responds to “Disgusting” Super Bowl Backlash
While many applauded Bruno Mars for rocking the Super Bowl stage and the over-the-top spectacle and just letting his killer vocals shine, the 28-year-old singer still received a fair amount of backlash.
The “Locked Out of Heaven” singer addressed the criticism during his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing today, Feb. 10, where he gave an inspirational speech to the audience about pursuing your dreams after slamming critics who claimed he didn’t have enough star power for the Super Bowl stage.
“How long did you rehearse for that?” Ellen asked the Grammy-award winner
“Months,” he said. “As soon as we got the call I was thinking about ideas and, you know, how are going to pull this off? It’s the biggest stage on Earth.”
Ellen then asks the pop star if there was ever a moment when he questioned performing at such a massive event, following in the famous footsteps of stars such as Beyoncé, Madonna and U2.
“No, like how do you say no? Nah, nope I’m good,” he says with a laugh. “It was, I know it was early; it’s very early in my career. I’ve only got two albums, so I don’t have the legacy or anything like that, but you don’t know you know? Tomorrow’s not promised, so I had to go for it.”
Sounds like the right attitude, although Ellen also addressed some of the unfortunate backlash.
Bruno Mars sees huge bounce on next week’s album chart
Bruno Mars’ Album Sales Jump 164 Percent After Super Bowl Performance
According to sources, the entertainer’s latest album, Unorthodox Jukebox, sold perhaps 40,000 copies in the week ending Feb. 2. That would represent a 164 percent gain compared to the previous week, when it sold 15,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The album’s official sales figures, will be released on Wednesday, Feb. 5 (the same day that the new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be unveiled).
If Unorthodox returns to the top 10 with 40,000, it will mark the album’s first visit to the top 10 since the Billboard 200 chart dated Sep. 14, 2013, and its best sales week since March 2013.
Unorthodox Jukebox was already aiming to sell around 19,000 in the week ending Feb. 2, thanks in part to Mars’ exposure at last week’s Grammy Awards. Mars won the award for best pop vocal album on the Grammys, but he did not perform on the show.
This year’s Super Bowl drew 111.5 million viewers, down from the 109 million that tuned in a year ago.
Last year, Beyonce headlined the Super Bowl halftime show, where she was briefly joined by Destiny’s Child group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
The impact of the Super Bowl on Mars’ music sales, and on the Billboard charts, will be unique compared to all other halftime headliners in the modern era of Super Bowl halftime entertainment.
BRUNO MARS SUPER BOWL XLVIII HALFTIME SHOW 2014
Bruno puts on a spectacular Super Bowl Halftime performance
The 28-year-old kicked off the annual Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show with a drum solo before launching into his hits Locked Out Of Heaven, Treasure and Runaway Baby but things really got rocking when he was joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Singing Give It Away with lead singer Anthony Kiedis, Mars could have a rock career in front of him, however, he definitely wasn’t dressed the part in his gold jacket.
It was a competent and polished, but hardly exciting, performance from the multiple Grammy Award winner.
He later went back to his roots with a soulful rendition of Just The Way You Are on a circular stage on the halfway line.
The pop crooner appeared at the Rose Theater on Thursday to promote his Halftime performance and admitted he was nervous.
However he insisted they wouldn’t get the better of him, confidently stating, ‘I ain’t scared.’
The Red Hot Chili Peppers first formed in 1983, and attained their first commercial hit record in 1991 with the disc Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The band has garnered a total of ten No. 1 songs.
Opera singer Renee Fleming sang the National Anthem before the game while Queen Latifa performed America The Brave.
The game featured the Seattle Seahawks vs Denver Broncos.
It was played at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday.
